Samoa 17s to take on Warriors this weekend
11 March 2015
This Saturday a Samoa Invitational 17s team is preparing to play the NZ Warriors development squad at Bruce Pullman Park, Papakura kick-off 2pm
The fixture will showcase young Samoan players predominately from across Auckland, Waiheke Island, Christchurch and Nelson in an opportunity to contest the Warriors Development under the watchful eye of Duane Mann and staff.
“Auckland has been such a strong hold for Rugby League Samoa NZ (RLSNZ) but we really need to expand out to areas like Northland, Central Districts and of course the capital in Wellington” says RLSNZ chairman Paepaetele.
Sixteen-year-old Cruz Topai-Aveai from Aranui Eagles [Shirley Boys High School] has travelled up from Christchurch to join the Samoa squad, alongside Nelson based pair Marvin Curry and Junior Tui who migrated from Samoa over 4 years ago. The inclusion of South Island based players is really exciting for RLSNZ and what these young men can bring to the team for future games.
Date: Saturday 14 March
Venue: Bruce Pullman Park, 90 – 138 Walters Road, Papakura, Auckland, NZ
(access from Walters Road, and Porchester Road via Kuaka Drive).
